The peaceful neighborhoods of Brisbane have recently been disrupted by a series of early morning crimes. Several local businesses have fallen victim to a string of smash and grabs, with the suspects wielding what seems to be an axe. These incidents occurred between October 13 and 16 in the northern suburbs of Brisbane, and authorities suspect that they may be connected.

One of the affected business owners, Cynthia Phan, shared her distress with 9News. Her beloved Le Bon Choix Bakery on Racecourse Road in Ascot was among the targeted establishments. "We were devastated," Phan revealed. "Times are already tough, and this is just another burden to bear." The sentiment was echoed by Jan Laus, owner of vegan cafe Dicki's, also located on Racecourse Road. Laus expressed concern over the intentional nature of the robberies, all taking place on the same street.

Surveillance footage captured the hooded criminals smashing their way into various businesses using an axe or hammer. In the early hours of October 16, six break-ins occurred on Racecourse Road alone, between 3am and 4am. The Queensland Police are also investigating four incidents that took place between 11.45pm on October 13 and 1.15am on October 14 on Kingsford Smith Drive, Eagle Farm. Additionally, a petrol station on Braun Street in Deagon was the target of a failed break-in attempt at 2am on the same day. It is believed that there was also an attempted break-in on October 14 at a business on Lavarack Avenue in Pinkenba. The following evening, another business on Lutwyche Road in Lutwyche was the victim of yet another attempted break-in at approximately 10.30pm.

Thankfully, no one was harmed in any of these incidents. However, authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in their investigations.
