Sen. Tim Scott has recently been vocal about his thoughts on former President Donald Trump. Trump spokesman Steven Cheung said, “We don’t respond to people polling at 1%.” Scott's polling numbers have been falling below 2% in the national polls. His supporters, like Sen. John Cornyn, have expressed disappointment in his campaign. Cornyn said, “I’m disappointed because he’s such a terrific guy and has got a great message.” On Oct. 21, a newspaper from Scott’s hometown called for the Republican Party to rally around his opponent, former SC Gov. Nikki Haley, to go against Trump in the election.
