Over the course of two days, the Chapter Convention of Quality Concepts was held at Rourkela and it was a big success. The event saw a total of 140 teams and 730 participants from various organizations in Jharkhand and Odisha competing with each other. Among these participants, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) stood out with the highest number of teams from a single organization participating in the Quality Circle (QC) category.
Out of the 30 teams from RSP, including three teams from Odisha Group of Mines, a staggering 27 teams were awarded Gold awards while the remaining three were awarded Silver. This is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the employees at RSP.
One of the highlights of the event was the JK Das Rolling Trophy, which was claimed by Team Ankur from Pipe Plants for their outstanding performance and all-round excellence in the QC stream. Another noteworthy achievement was the second best award in the category, which was won by the Shrusti Quality Circle team from Oxygen Plant at RSP.
Apart from these major awards, eight teams from RSP also shone in the model competition held during the convention. The individual members of RSP's teams also showed their skills and talents by winning various awards in competitions such as essay writing, slogan writing, poem writing, and quiz.
The credit for coordinating and guiding the QC teams from RSP goes to GM Chandan Samal, who ensured that the teams performed to the best of their abilities.
The Gold award winners from RSP include teams like ‘Prayas’, ‘Shrushti’, and ‘Ignite’ from Oxygen Plant, ‘Tejas’ from New Plate Mill, ‘Samruddhi’ and ‘Dynamic’ from Plate Mill, ‘Samarpan’ from Steel Melting Shop-I, ‘Agranee’, ‘Sambhab’, and ‘Pinnacle’ from Raw Material Handling Plant, ‘Lakshyam’ from RCL, ‘Pragati’ from Instrumentation, ‘Ekam’ from C&IT, ‘Shakti’ from Power Distribution, ‘Creative’ from SMS-II, ‘Vijeta’ from Sintering Plant – I, ‘Srujan’ from Sintering Plant –II, ‘Megamind’ from Roll Shop, ‘Nishkarsh’ from Air Conditioning, ‘Ankur’ and ‘Avishkar’ from Pipe Plant, ‘Aarohan’ from Hot Strip Mill-2, ‘Pioneer’ from E&A, ‘Utkarsh’ from Blast Furnace, ‘Karmveer’ from Coke Ovens, and ‘Tejas’ and ‘Prayas Kaizen’ from BIM. The Silver awards were bagged by ‘Prahari’ from the Communication Engineering Department and AROHI LQC from BIM.
