Rosie Jones refuses to participate in Strictly Come Dancing.
Rosie Jones is living her dream and she couldn't be more proud of herself. She has always wanted to be a children's book author and now she is making her younger self proud by creating hilarious books that make kids laugh. Her stand-up comedy career has also taken off, with appearances on popular TV shows like Would I Lie to You? and a growing fan base. However, despite her success, Rosie knows that there is still a ceiling for people with disabilities like her.

As a beloved stand-up comedian at the age of 34, Rosie has achieved more than most able-bodied comedians could imagine. She has become a household name and has thrived in an industry that is not always inclusive of people with disabilities. In an exclusive chat with The Agency, Rosie shares her thoughts on the challenges faced by the disabled community.

"Disability is the minority group that has the furthest to go in terms of equality," Rosie says. She uses Strictly Come Dancing as an example, a show that she has always wanted to be a part of but cannot because it is not yet ready to accommodate her needs. "I watch Strictly every year and it really feels like a staple of our society, and they have become more diverse, but I do think in terms of disability there’s still a disparity."

Rosie explains that there is still a long way to go for the disabled community to be fully included in society. "It is the hardest minority to get inclusivity because if you want more women, if you want more non-white people, if you want more queer people, you just employ them," she says. "But if you want to include disabled people, it requires structural changes in society."

But Rosie is not one to just sit back and accept the status quo. She believes that change begins with a conversation and a willingness to learn and adapt to individual needs. With her platform as a comedian and TV personality, she constantly raises awareness and advocates for the disabled community.

Rosie's new children's book, Moving On Up!, is another step towards instigating change. She recalls her own childhood and how she never saw characters with disabilities in books. "I adored reading. I read everything, but I never saw a character with a disability and that made me so sad and so angry because people didn’t think my story was worth telling." With her book, she hopes to be the big sister and voice for children who feel different.

Her show, Triple Threat, is also making waves at this year's Edinburgh Fringe festival. Rosie never thought she would have this life, having grown up not seeing a place for herself in the world of comedy. "But as I grew older and became more confident in who I was, I knew I just had to give it a go because I would have always regretted it if I didn’t. So I tried it out and so far it’s gone alright."

At the age of 34, Rosie is thriving and living her dream. She has shed all worries about what others think of her and has accepted herself for who she is. "I’m surrounded by so many amazing friends and family, doing a job that I just can’t get enough of. I’m living the dream. But more importantly, I love who I am. That gives you all the confidence in the world."

Despite the challenges and discrimination faced by the disabled community, Rosie Jones continues to pave her own way and make her mark in the world. She hopes to inspire others to do the same and to never give up on their dreams. If you have a celebrity story, video or pictures, The Agency entertainment team would love to hear from you.
