Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa ended the night standing tall over Jey Uso on WWE SmackDown, with only one week left until their high stakes showdown at SummerSlam. The Undisputed WWE Universal Champion will defend the gold and his position as Tribal Chief when he faces his cousin in the ring in Detroit.
The evening began with Jey in the ring, only to be interrupted by Roman who tried to take credit for his cousin's success but was reminded of Jey pinning him at Money In The Bank. This led to a backstage altercation with Grayson Waller which resulted in a match in the main event. The match was great and Waller proved he can hang with the company’s biggest stars.
Unfortunately, the night was overshadowed by an injury to Rey Mysterio in the opening match of the night. The United States Title Invitational bout between Rey and Santos Escobar was stopped after Rey suffered a head injury from a Suicide Dive. Santos won the match and will face Austin Theory for the gold.
LA Knight was a delight to the live crowd, tearing down Hit Row before making quick work of Ashante ‘Thee’ Adonis, and was later added to the field of an inter-brand Battle Royal at SummerSlam. Bobby Lashley gave the Street Profits a rack of stylish suits as they continue to tease a new alliance. Bianca Belair and Charlotte Flair beat the Women’s Tag Team Champions Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville.
The show ended with Roman and Solo coming to the ring to confront Jey. While Jey put up a fight, he quickly fell to two Samoa Spike and Spear combinations, leaving him lying on the mat.
