Robbie Fowler suggests Man United should consider signing two Premier League players.
Erik ten Hag is determined to strengthen the Manchester United squad ahead of the upcoming Premier League season. Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler believes the Red Devils are targeting two Premier League stars to help them achieve this.

Manchester United have already spent £60m to sign Mason Mount from Chelsea, and Ten Hag is looking for a new goalkeeper and striker to join the Red Devils at Old Trafford. Onana from Inter Milan is the United's top target to replace the outgoing David de Gea, however, Fowler believes the Manchester giants may look closer to home for a new No. 1.

‘I see Manchester United have been strongly linked with Inter’s Andre Onana, and that makes sense because his distribution is sensational, and he played for Ten Hag at Ajax,’ the ex-England striker told the Daily Mirror.
‘But don’t rule out Jordan Pickford. I know he only signed a new contract last February, but to me that makes it more rather than less likely he’ll move this summer. I can almost guarantee he had a release clause inserted in that contract. Pickford only had just over a year left when he signed the new deal, and he’s one of the best in the world, the recognised number one for one of the best international teams in the world. He’s handy on the ball too.

While Manchester United desperately need to sign a replacement for De Gea, they also need to splash the cash on a new striker. The Red Devils have already made an offer for Rasmus Hojlund but Fowler says he ‘wouldn’t rule out’ a stunning deal for Tottenham captain Harry Kane. Kane is believed to be a dream target for Ten Hag, however, United have reportedly turned to other strikers as they expect the England legend to remain at Spurs.

Fowler added: ‘I simply don’t believe, either, they will have to limit their spending this summer, so a centre forward will arrive too, and I still wouldn’t rule out Harry Kane. I believe he’ll stay in the Premier League, because he wants to smash the all-time scoring record. But Spurs are absolutely miles away, so he’ll have to move, and United looks the most obvious destination. Maybe all this talk of having no money to spend is aimed at keeping any Kane fee down, as he only has a year left on his contract.’

With the new season fast approaching, Manchester United must act quickly to bring in the necessary players for a successful campaign. Not only do they need a reliable goalkeeper to fill the void left by De Gea, they also need a reliable striker to help them challenge for the title. Whether they succeed in signing Onana or Pickford, or even Kane, remains to be seen.
