Tommy Fury has remained unbeaten since his professional debut, most recently winning a split decision over Jake Paul in February. Now, he's taking on KSI in an upcoming fight, and former boxing world champion Ricky Hatton, who worked with Fury early in his career, believes the 24-year-old must completely dominate KSI in order to have a meaningful future in the sport.
Hatton told The Sun, "These are rappers and YouTubers, they’re not professional boxers like you, so I think in this fight he needs to make a bit more of a statement. Tommy must still have visions of doing something in real boxing and if that’s the case I’d like to see him knock out KSI. Or certainly win extremely convincingly which I think he will."
He added, "At the end of the day, Tommy still talks of having ambitions of doing well in boxing. No disrespect to Jake Paul, he’s not the worst out there but he’s certainly not the best and KSI is a rapper! If he keeps talking about being successful as a boxer than I do think he has to knock KSI out."
Jake Paul, however, is less concerned. When asked about the fight, he told Mirror Fighting, "I think Tommy knocks him out in like less than five rounds." We'll all have to wait and see. On October 14th in Manchester, we'll get to watch Tommy Fury take on KSI in a fight that could determine his future in professional boxing.
