Redman opposes AI in Hip-Hop, saying
As Artificial Intelligence continues to be hailed as the next big thing in technology, there has been an increase in the number of people against using it. Most recently, New Jersey native and recording artist Redman voiced his opinion on the matter.

Speaking to VIBE Magazine on the red carpet at the 2023 BET Awards event, the “Time 4 Sum Aksion” rapper said he doesn’t want AI to ruin hip-hop.

“We need to galvanize everyone together right now and stand up before they do this AI crap,” Redman said. “Do not let hip-hop be ruined by technology.”

The topic has been on the minds of people in all fields, including actor Samuel L. Jackson. During a recent discussion about his role in the new Disney+ series, Secret Invasion, he spoke about the dangers of AI and his experience working with the technology.

Jackson expressed his concern and advised future actors to refrain from signing agreements to use their images for AI. “It could be something to worry about,” he said. “Future actors should do what I always do when I get a contract and it has the words ‘in perpetuity’ and ‘known and unknown’ on it: I cross that sh*t out.”

BIG3 Founder Ice Cube also spoke out against the technology. He said that if anyone tried to duplicate his voice via AI, he would pursue legal action. “It’s like a sample. Somebody can’t take your original voice and manipulate it without paying,” he said.

As companies continue to seek out advances in technology, more people, particularly creatives, are protesting the use of their voice, likeness, or anything having to do with being replicated. It’s clear that we need to protect our interests and take a stand against AI before it’s too late.
