Readers share their ideas for improving Mario Kart World, including customizable vehicles, more tracks, and longer races.
Hey there!

Have you ever played Mario Kart World and thought about how you would change it? Well, if you have, you're not alone. Many players have been discussing their ideas for improvements on the Wednesday letters page. Some are even worried that next year we might see the reveal of the PS6 or the next generation Xbox. And in the midst of all this speculation, one reader even suggested a Fallout game set in Russia.

Personally, I've been loving Mario Kart World, but there are a few tweaks I would like to see. First and foremost, I believe the three lap races are a must. However, in order for them to be enjoyable, the number of players should be reduced to 12 instead of 24. It's just too chaotic on smaller courses with so many players. Additionally, I would love to see the return of the option to customize weapons in private matches. Some weapons feel overpowered and being able to turn them off would make the game more fair and fun.

The battle mode in Mario Kart World is another aspect that needs improvement. It hasn't been as good as the one in Mario Kart 64, which I couldn't quite put my finger on until I played it again. In Mario Kart 64, the karts had the ability to turn sharply, making it easy to attack or change direction. But in Mario Kart World, the karts feel sluggish and take forever to turn, making it frustrating. Perhaps adding a handbrake option could solve this issue. However, upon further reflection, I realized that all the karts have the same problem, even on sharp circuits. Therefore, I believe all the karts need a handling tweak. Despite these issues, I can't seem to stop playing the Knockout Tour mode. It's that addictive feeling of wanting to do better that keeps me coming back for more.

Moving on to another topic, I wouldn't mind seeing someone else take on the challenge of creating a new Fallout or The Elder Scrolls game. As much as I appreciate what Bethesda has done with these franchises, their last few games have not lived up to the standards set by Fallout 3 and The Elder Scrolls. I believe it would be refreshing to see a new team, perhaps one with experience from companies like BioWare or CD Projekt, take on the task. These new start-up companies seem to be popping up more frequently, and I have faith that they could bring something new and exciting to the table.

Next, I want to discuss the potential reveal of the PlayStation 6 and next gen Xbox next year. It's inevitable that the hype will start building up, and we might even see an official reveal for one or both consoles. While some may argue that it's too soon, I believe it's important to consider the impact on new game releases. Sony has already slowed down with new releases, and I fear they might give up altogether and start fresh. As for Microsoft, I wonder if they're holding back on games like Fable because of the upcoming consoles. And who knows, they might even make it an exclusive again, although I don't think they should. While I do think this will happen, I hope it doesn't. We don't need to go through the same cycle of reveals, pre-orders, lackluster launch line-ups, and mediocre games for another two years. It's just too soon.

Shifting gears, I want to talk about the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6. It's quite perplexing to predict when the next trailer will be released. But since the game is set to come out in May 2026, I believe it could be announced as early as January or at the latest, March. Personally, I'm hoping for a trailer that includes a release date and gameplay footage. So far, we've only seen glimpses of Vice City and a few characters, but nothing substantial. I'm eager to see more of the rural areas of Vice City, meet new wacky characters, and try out new activities and hobbies. I also hope they show us how the wanted system will work. Will there be a massive army response when we reach the maximum wanted level, or will it be more realistic? I can't wait to find out.

Lastly, I want to address the recent news about Activision Blizzard. It's disheartening to see so many job cuts following their acquisition by Microsoft. It's almost as if Microsoft wants to replace everyone with artificial intelligence. But as a gamer, I can't help but think about the bigger picture. It's like the movie They Live, where the message of consumerism is delivered in a blunt and comical way. The sad reality is that companies will continue to do whatever they want, and we as consumers are often blinded by their tactics. We need to start questioning authority and not just blindly accept everything that's thrown at us.

Hey there! I've been playing Mario Kart World and I have to say, it's been a blast. But, I do have a few suggestions for some tweaks and options that I would like to see in the game. First off, I think it would be great to have three lap races. However, with that mode, I think it would be best to reduce the number of players to 12. It can get a bit chaotic with 24 players on smaller courses. Another thing I would like to see is the return of the option to choose which weapons are available in private matches. Some of them can be a bit overpowered and it would be nice to have more control over that.

One area that I think could use some improvement is the battle mode. In my opinion, it hasn't been as good since Mario Kart 64. I recently played it again and realized that the karts in that version turn very sharply, making it easier to attack or change direction. In Mario Kart World, the karts feel sluggish and it takes forever to turn around, which can be frustrating. Maybe they could add a handbrake option or adjust the handling of the karts. But even with these issues, I can't stop playing the Knockout Tour mode. It always leaves me wanting to try again and do better.

Moving on to a different topic, I have to say I wouldn't mind if someone else made a new Fallout game, or even The Elder Scrolls. Don't get me wrong, Bethesda did an amazing job with Fallout 3 and The Elder Scrolls, but those games are quite old now and they haven't really impressed me since. Well, except for New Vegas 2 by Obsidian. Personally, I think it would be a dream come true to see a Fallout game set in Russia, developed by one of the new start-ups founded by ex-BioWare or CD Projekt devs. With the combination of old school experience and fresh ideas from a new team, it could be something truly special.

Speaking of new things, it's hard to believe but we might see the hype for the PlayStation 6 and next gen Xbox starting next year. Maybe even an official reveal for one or both. It's not too soon to start thinking about it, right? But, what does this mean for new game releases? Sony has already slowed down their releases, so will they start fresh with the new consoles? And could Microsoft be holding back games like Fable, which we haven't seen much of yet? Maybe they'll even make it an exclusive again, although I don't think they should.

Moving on to a different topic, I've been trying to figure out when the next trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 will be released. With the game set to come out in 2026, I think it could be sometime in January or March at the latest. Personally, I'm hoping for a release date and a gameplay reveal. We've only seen a glimpse of Vice City so far, and I would love to see more of the rural areas and activities like surfing and beach activities. And let's not forget the wanted system. Will it be similar to the old titles, with an army response at maximum wanted level, or more realistic? I can't wait to find out!

On a more personal note, I've been playing Assassin's Creed Shadows on PlayStation 5 and I'm really enjoying it. And speaking of games, do you remember when people were defending the Activision Blizzard acquisition and saying that there wouldn't be any job cuts? Well, we don't hear from those people much anymore, do we? And now, it seems like Microsoft wants to replace everyone with AI. It's like that movie They Live, where consumerism is so blatant and we just accept everything without questioning authority. It's a bit scary, to be honest.

Well, that's all from me for now. If you have any thoughts or comments on any of these topics, feel free to email me. And don't forget to sign up for the GameCentral newsletter for exclusive gaming analysis, reviews, and more. It's delivered to your inbox every Saturday morning. Until next time!
