Have you played Super Mario Bros. Wonder yet? With GC’s review hailing the game as innovative and imaginative, I decided to jump in and see what all the fuss was about. Me and my girlfriend were hooked, and despite the fact that it can be completed in less than 10 hours, the sheer number of stages and imaginative levels made it feel incredibly worth the money.
Talking of money, it's interesting to compare the asking price of Super Mario Bros. Wonder with that of Spider-Man 2. At £50, the game feels like great value for money, and I would far rather play this than its more expensive foe. It's a shame that high-end cinematic games often have to justify their higher asking prices with more content, bloat and frills.
On the topic of value for money, I recently finished Assassin’s Creed Mirage after 28 hours of playtime - all for the price of £1! It was definitely better as a shorter more focused experience, and it found the middle ground between the older games and the more extensive role-playing entries quite nicely. Now, I'm off to play Spider-Man 2 and finally get to see what all the hype is about.
My favourite Nintendo game is the one I always come back to: Advance Wars. The music tracks are super catchy and the story/balancing is still the best in the series. I have often wished for the game to be ported to PC, as it would allow for much larger maps and online play. Although, larger maps may not necessarily make the game more fun - Wargroove tried that and it just dragged everything out.
I'm loving my experience with Super Mario Bros. Wonder so far. The game opens up at a nice pace and looks great and feels great to control. The Wonder Seeds are great rewards and the game is really accessible and allows people of different skills to play together. The only downside is that it would be nice to 'lock' who the leader is, and therefore who the screen follows.
With the Switch 2 on its way, I'm curious to see what the main launch game might be. It's too early for Zelda and the 3D Mario rumours may be a little too close to Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Metroid Prime 4 might be ready in time but is that the game to grab Nintendo’s mainstream audience? It's likely that it may be a brand new franchise, which is extra exciting, probably alongside something more familiar. We can only hope for a reveal in the first half of next year!
Have you played Super Mario Bros. Wonder yet? Everybody is talking about it! It's been my weekend go-to and I'm loving it. GC's review was spot-on; it's an incredibly innovative game that you can finish in less than 10 hours, and I'm still impressed by the amount of thought and creativity that's gone into it.
I think the price is just right, too – it's at a much more reasonable £50 instead of the £70 you'd usually pay for a game of this caliber. That's definitely a plus, especially considering how pricey some games are these days.
I'm feeling a bit torn over Spider-Man 2, though. On one hand, I'm really tempted to try it out, but on the other I'm worried that it's overpriced and filled with bloat. Still, I'm sure it's a great game and I'll get it when the price drops. I'd rather play Mario anyway!
Advance Wars is a classic Nintendo game, and I've been playing it for years. It's just a shame it's never been ported to PC – I'd love to play it with larger maps and have the option for online play.
Speaking of value for money, Assassin's Creed Mirage was surprisingly fun to play and I got 28 hours out of it for only £1! That's a real bargain.
In terms of the Switch 2 launch, I'm really curious to see what the main game will be. Zelda has been a great choice in the past, but it might be too early for that. I'm excited to see if Nintendo will introduce a brand new franchise or something more familiar. Either way, I'm looking forward to the reveal in the first half of next year!
