Rail workers plan to increase their protest against unfair wages and working conditions.
Ujjain: On Sunday, the ongoing serial hunger strike of local railway employees continued for its 35th day. Seven railway loco pilots, Laxmichand Meena, Sheikh Jamil, Ajay Bourasi, Deepak Verma, Akhilesh Itwadiya, Mahendra Parmar and Rakesh Prajapati, and other railway department employees took part in the strike on the day.

SS Sharma and Abhilash Nagar, convenors of Running Headquarters Bachao Joint Struggle Committee, said that senior railway officers are providing the Railway Board with wrong information to mislead Parliamentarians and the Railway Ministry. They mentioned that officers working in the Ratlam and Mumbai headquarters are stating that the transfer of loco pilots from Ujjain to Indore is part of their normal promotion procedure.

According to the convenors, the truth is that on March 20, an order was issued to abolish 125 loco pilot posts of Ujjain lobby and create unnecessary posts in the Indore lobby, which proves that it is not a normal procedure for promotion but a conspiracy to end Ujjain lobby. The loco pilots who were promoted and sent to Indore only did so under pressure and all of them have applied to come back to Ujjain, demonstrating that no one was interested in taking promotion in Indore. Ratlam division officials are continuously deceiving organisations and employees by giving false information.

The railway employees are becoming increasingly frustrated due to the inflexible behaviour of the officers. In response, the trade union leaders have warned that they will soon take the movement to the people of the city by organising a vehicle rally, Tricolour rally and Sadbuddhi Yagya at the station if their demands are not met and the order is not cancelled.

It is clear that the railway employees are determined to protect the interests of railways from any harm. They have made it known that they will not back down until their demands are addressed.
