Quantitative study

Pretty sure that everyone comes across insolent, arrogant people quite often. From teachers to taxi drivers, to clients, government employees, etc.

They want things done the way they want it because they “believe” that they know what everyone else wants.

As a consultant/ service provider, when you do figure out how to get past the landmine of “managing your client”, 99% of your problem is resolved. The easiest way to negotiate with a government employee is to agree to the amount of money they demand. Integrity and why they are scum is definitely another topic. If you do not want to pay them, congrats, you just made your work infinitely tougher.

Government employees don’t really know much about anything. They are never “specialists” in anything. They get their jobs because the general population was never made aware of the scale of difficulty they would have to endure.

Your average government employee, when In charge of any work, will pass totally meaningless judgments/ decisions, which you will have to work with. Even, when you explain that other people will not like his/ her call based on past data, expect a reply “Just get it did”.

They have a tendency to come up with an idea that they think is the greatest thing since sliced bread. They are absolutely convinced that everybody will beat a path to their door to buy their product. They spend lots of money to develop a sales campaign, build a website (absolute crappy, crazy expensive), buy advertising (the absolute most expensive) and so on, and spend a lot of time and effort to draw people to their website, get good search engine positioning, and then more often than not they are disappointed because very few people buy their products.

Could it be that the marketplace doesn’t care about their opinion?

Does that hurt their ego? It shouldn’t. It should open your eyes to this very simple, but wildly profound truth.

IT DOESN’T MATTER WHAT YOU THINK, IT’S WHAT THE MARKETPLACE THINKS IS IMPORTANT!

With the internet, came a host of tools, to measure engagement, time on each page, etc. All of these, cost next to nothing. But, your average government employee is God. And, what he says will happen. And after it does not happen, you better not dare to bring up the subject of your order will not be renewed.

Big companies spend millions of dollars on market research, testing, and surveys before they ever spend any money in developing a service/ product or marketing a service/ product. Doesn’t it make sense that before we ever spend a dime on any kind of service/ product development, website development, or whatever that we should spend some time first, to find out what people are spending time on, buying, when do they buy, and how do they buy?

By doing proper research in advance, save a lot of wasted time and effort and be rewarded many times over by building successful services/ products/ websites. Finding “niches” is not a difficult process, but it can make all the difference in the world as to whether or not your website will be a huge success or a dismal failure.
