Russian President Vladimir Putin has pardoned a second cannibal killer in the space of just one week. This time, the dictator has freed Denis Gorin, 44, who is currently recovering in hospital.
Gorin had been serving a 22-year jail term for his crimes, which included a 2002 killing in which he sliced off the ears and pieces of flesh from the body which he later ate after stabbing them 50 times.
Gorin was sentenced to ten years in jail initially, but was released early for ‘good behaviour’. He then killed a man named Alexander, 36, in November 2010, for which he was convicted in 2017 after the body was found.
The court verdict heard how Gorin ‘cut soft tissue from the victim's limbs using a knife he had with him, which he later consumed as food’. He also kept human meat in his fridge and cooked it later.
Gorin has been seen smirking from his hospital bed where he is recovering from wounds he sustained while fighting against Ukraine. His neighbour told Sibir.Realii, ‘He is in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, in the hospital, with a moderate injury.’
Gorin and his brother also beat their nephew's alleged abuser to death in 2012, however, it was later discovered that the alleged abuser was innocent. This fact was taken into consideration when Putin granted him the pardon.
