The Premier League has just announced a massive new deal for television rights in the UK from the 2025/26 season. This agreement is worth an incredible £6.7bn and will run for four years until the end of the 2028/29 season.

This new deal will see live coverage of games on Sky Sports and TNT Sports, with the BBC holding onto highlights on Match of the Day. Sky Sports have been awarded four of the five packages, meaning they will show a minimum of 215 live matches per season - a whopping 70% increase in their exclusive live coverage.

The majority of these matches will be at weekends, with Sky Sports also broadcasting late games on Fridays and Mondays, as well as some midweek matches and all 10 games on the last day of the season. TNT Sports will have exclusive coverage of the 12.30pm slot on Saturdays, with 52 live matches in total.

Premier League Chief Executive, Richard Masters, expressed his delight at the outcome of the process. He said: “We are delighted to announce new deals with Sky Sports and TNT Sports that will extend our partnership for a further four years and see more Premier League matches than ever before shown live from 2025/26 onwards.

“Sky Sports and TNT Sports are renowned for consistently delivering world-class coverage and programming, and we’re confident that their continued innovation will drive even more people to watch and follow the Premier League. We are also extremely pleased to extend our partnership with BBC Sport, which will continue to bring weekly highlights of all Premier League matches to the widest possible audience in the UK.”

He also spoke of the strength of the Premier League and praised the hard work of clubs, players, managers and supporters who continue to make it the most competitive football in the world.

The new deal is the largest sports media rights deal ever concluded in the UK, and is sure to provide even more thrilling Premier League moments for viewers to watch and enjoy.
