Prison From The Inside Out (FTIO) is a non-profit organization based in California, founded and led by Porsche Taylor. The organization works to bridge the gap between those in prison and those in the community. They offer the incarcerated community a platform to share their stories, accept responsibility for their actions, and mentor others. Taylor's goal is to reach the incarcerated in every state in the U.S. and to serve as a model both nationally and internationally.

Taylor was recently interviewed on BLACK ENTERPRISE's "The Culture Shift: Be The Change". In the interview, she discussed FTIO's efforts to invest in the incarcerated community and provide resources to facilitate their internal transformation. The aim is to reduce repeat offenses and enhance their reentry success. She wanted to make sure those who have not been impacted by the prison system had a source of connection to those who are currently or formerly incarcerated.

The idea for FTIO originated from Taylor's personal experience with her husband, who is formerly incarcerated. She was angry about the lack of rehabilitation and resources her husband was provided while serving his time. She wanted to create a platform that humanized those behind bars and would give criminal offenders an opportunity to demonstrate how they've changed.

Since its founding in 2019, FTIO has grown nationally and internationally and has reached the incarcerated communities across the U.S. and in Uganda, Africa. They have implemented six government-funded programs that offer creative outlets and teach lessons on self-control and cause and effect to inmates. Taylor is the first African-American woman to create a nonprofit organization that supplies correctional institutions with innovative and rehabilitative curriculums that have been approved and funded by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation partner Innovative Programming. She hopes to expand FTIO to correctional facilities across the country.
