On 25 August, the Meghwadi police were tipped off that an individual was allegedly in possession of MD drugs in Jogeshwari East. Acting on this information, the police set up a trap near the Pimpaleshwar Temple, close to the Auto Rickshaw parking area.
At approximately 1.20 pm, the police spotted a blue Suzuki Access moped scooter arriving at the spot. After inspection, the police uncovered 60 grams of MD, worth ₹6 lakhs. The individual was arrested and a case was filed against him under sections 8, and 22 of the NDPC Act.
The operation was supervised by Datta Nalawade, Deputy Commissioner of Police, and Senior Police Inspector Rajendra Mandhare. The name of the individual was not revealed.
This was the second arrest that the Meghwadi police had made in the past week. Just days before, they had apprehended two people with MD drugs worth ₹38 lakhs. The arrests highlight the efforts of the police in cracking down on drug trafficking in the city.
