In Indore, a notorious drug trafficker was arrested by the crime branch on Thursday for his involvement in the distribution of drugs through an accomplice in the city. It was reported that the accused was apprehended near the Nepal border, where he was attempting to flee.
The police revealed that the accused had a modus operandi of procuring charas from Nepal at a low cost and then supplying it to the city at exorbitant prices. This illegal trade had been going on for quite some time, causing great harm to the society.
Rajesh Dandotiya, the additional DCP, stated that the crime branch team had been on high alert on September 12, when they spotted a suspicious individual near Polo Ground bridge on MR-4 Road. Upon further investigation, the suspect was identified as Sakir Hussain, a resident of Chandan Nagar.
Upon searching his belongings, the police were able to recover a whopping 2.2 kilograms of charas, which was estimated to be worth several lakhs of rupees. During interrogation, Sakir confessed to procuring the contraband from Motihari, Bihar.
In order to track down the source of the drugs, a team from the crime branch was dispatched to Bihar. With the help of the information provided by Sakir, the team was able to locate and arrest Ramu Prasad Yadav from Motihari. In his statement, Yadav admitted to purchasing charas from Nepal and then selling it to Sakir at a higher price, who would then distribute it in Indore.
The crime branch officials have stated that the accused will be presented before the court, where they will request for police remand in order to conduct a thorough investigation. This operation is a part of the ongoing efforts to crack down on the illegal trade of narcotics, which has been a major cause of concern for the authorities.
