A man is being sought by police for an alleged domestic violence incident and has been on the run in New South Wales, evading arrest on multiple occasions. The Richmond police department issued a warrant for his arrest on November 17, but he managed to escape from pursuing officers the very next day. He repeated this tactic earlier this week, on both Monday and Wednesday.
Recently, the man was spotted by officers driving a four-wheel drive on the M1 highway in Tweed Heads. Police attempted to pull him over, but their efforts were unsuccessful and a chase ensued. However, due to safety concerns, the pursuit had to be called off. Shortly after, the man exited the highway at Minjungbal Drive in Banora Point and allegedly collided with a stopped sedan at a traffic light. The impact of the crash caused the sedan to hit a police car driving in the opposite direction.
After causing this chaos, the man abandoned his vehicle and forcibly removed a man from his moped before fleeing the scene. He then proceeded to drive recklessly, nearly hitting police cars on the highway. Eventually, he fell off the bike and attempted to escape on foot, but was eventually apprehended and taken to Tweed Heads Police Station.
The 22-year-old is now facing a total of 13 charges, including reckless grievous bodily harm, hindering or resisting a police officer in the execution of duty, and destroying or damaging property. He has been refused bail and is scheduled to appear in Parramatta Local Court today.
