Bhubaneswar: During the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas convention in Bhubaneswar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to the Indian diaspora, highlighting the country's growing influence and achievements in the global arena. The three-day convention saw the participation of Non-Resident Indians and Persons of Indian Origin from around 50 countries. Addressing the diaspora virtually, President of Trinidad and Tobago Christine Carla Kangaloo praised India's contributions to the world in fields such as mathematics, medicine, and navigation.
Other speakers at the convention, including Odisha's Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, also highlighted the role of the diaspora in India's global workforce and the government's support towards the diaspora in times of difficulty.
During the day, the PM also inaugurated four exhibitions and flagged off the Pravasi Bharatiya Express, a special tourist train for the diaspora. The train will travel across various destinations in India, showcasing the country's rich culture and heritage.
