Pinterest and Shopify are joining forces once again to provide essential resources for Black-owned small businesses to not only survive, but thrive in today's competitive market. Through their partnership, the popular social media platform and leading e-commerce brand will offer support to small businesses, independent publishers, and boutique creator agencies from historically marginalized communities.
Since its launch in 2021, Pinterest's incubator program has successfully aided over 150 content producers from underrepresented communities around the world. This program has proven to be a valuable tool in helping these individuals achieve success, as stated in a recent post on Pinterest's company blog. Now, the initiative is expanding to include even more groups, such as independent publishers and boutique creator agencies, providing them with the opportunity to take advantage of the program's offerings.
Through this program, content producers will receive valuable resources and training to help them optimize their organic content and grow their presence on the platform. As shared in a recent Instagram post from Pinterest Creators, the program aims to bridge the gap for underrepresented content producers by equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed on Pinterest.
Constance Knight, Pinterest's Head of Content Partnerships, expressed the need for scalable solutions to support the growth of underrepresented content producers, who often face challenges due to limited resources. Knight also shared the program's goal of helping these individuals unlock more opportunities for their businesses by learning how to optimize their inspirational content on Pinterest.
With an incredible 1.5 billion saves per week on Pinterest, this program opens up a world of possibilities for content producers to reach a massive audience of over half a billion people who are actively searching, saving, and shopping on the platform. Participants will learn how to leverage organic content to increase the value of their brand, including connecting their Shopify storefront to a Pinterest business account. Shopify, a leading e-commerce platform, will serve as an industry expert during the program and assist in selecting the final merchant recipients, providing their expertise through a training session.
Brandon Davenport, Head of Equitable Commerce at Shopify, also shared the company's dedication to supporting the success of entrepreneurs from underrepresented communities through their initiatives like Shopify Build Black and Build Native. Davenport emphasized the value of collaborating with the Pinterest Inclusion Fund to help merchants amplify their success by reaching an engaged audience on a platform optimized for shoppers.
In addition to one-to-one educational resources and training, selected participants will also receive mentorship, monetary stipends, and a one-year paid subscription to content-scheduling platforms like Tailwind.
