After vandals destroyed his beehives and released half a million bees, Brian Mitchison was left devastated. He, a beekeeper of 82 years, had spent ten years growing the colony of 600,000 bees, and harvesting honey to local people, as well as helping in the preservation of the Litten Nature Reserve in Greenford, West London.

Without CCTV on the reserve, Brian was unable to call on the police. But, in an inspiring response to the tragedy, he has set up a GoFundMe page to raise funds to kickstart his hives back into action and get the colony back to its original size.
