Paul is in a lot of pain after a car crash and is worried about his health. His health worries spiral out of control and he is eventually given bad news that he has a terminal illness.
Things are getting a lot worse for Paul Foreman. He's been left with injuries to his hand after being hit by Carla Barlow in the Underworld van in Coronation Street, and he will soon receive more bad news.

Paul was minding his own business trying out Peter Barlow's motorbike, when the van came hurtling out of nowhere with a drugged Carla behind the wheel.

He was pulled out from beneath the bike and whisked off to hospital, where he was bandaged up and sent on his way.

However, a visit to Dr Gaddas will bring about bad news, when she tells him that his hand could take up to 12 weeks to heal.

For Paul, this means 12 weeks of lost earnings, as his job as a builder requires the use of both hands.

Sister Gemma Winter isn't prepared to accept that and urges him to go after Carla for compensation.

Before he can get there, however, Peter is knocking on the door, offering £15,000 compensation on the condition that Paul drops the case against Carla.

There is an ulterior motive behind Peter's generosity, as he has worked out that Carla wasn't insured to drive the van.

Paul initially accepts the deal, but after a conversation with lawyer friend Dee Dee Bailey, he returns it, having been advised to wait for a full diagnosis before accepting any compensation.

With the UK in the middle of a cost-of-living crisis, will Paul be able to cope without his earnings as he waits for proper compensation?
