Padayatra from Virajpet to Talakaveri

Virajpet, Oct 19: Marking the sacred *Teerthodbhava* (the auspicious emergence of the holy waters) of Mother Kaveri, 15 devotees undertook a *padayatra* (pilgrimage on foot) covering a distance of approximately 58 km from Virajpet to Talakaveri. This marks the sixth consecutive year that this pilgrimage has been conducted.

The *padayatra* commenced from Virajpet on Friday morning, passing through Kadanur, Kadanga, Napoklu, Nelaji, Ballamavati, and Ayyangeri, before reaching Bhagamandala at 6:35 PM. The pilgrims were supported by local families who provided meals: the family of Kochamanda Vijaya Sheela provided breakfast, the family of Ketolira Dali provided lunch, and the Pulikot Mukkatira family provided evening refreshments.

On Saturday, the devotees continued their journey from Bhagamandala, accompanied by various organizations while singing *bhajans* (devotional songs) dedicated to Mother Kaveri. They reached Talakaveri well before the *Teerthodbhava*. Following this, they collected the sacred *teertha* (holy water) of Mother Kaveri and distributed *teertha-prasada* to fellow devotees. Driven by deep devotion and religious faith in Mother Kaveri, this *padayatra* is organized annually; this year, 15 devotees participated in the pilgrimage. Chettoli Sarath Somanna, Muruvanda Sawan Somanna, Kalamanda Robin Atchamma, Chaiyanda Kirtan Ayyappa, Nellachanda Prakash Nanaiah, Nikhil Mandepa, Chambada Bhavan Ponnana, Chokanda Kariappa, Ponnolathanda Sharanu Tammayya, Nambiyada Somesh, Mandepada Ayush Mandanna, Palanga Ada Ryan Thammaiah and three young ladies Muruvanda Spoorthi Sitamma, Muruvanda Muthamma Kuttappa and Muruvanda Niharika Annaiah participated. Muddiyada Karan Kaverappa volunteered.
