Siddapur, Jul. 18: An operation was conducted in Badaga Banangala, Mekur-Hoskeri, and Chennayyankote areas of the Thitimathi zone forest area. During this operation, the operation team succeeded in capturing six elephants.
Following the problem of wild elephants camping in the coffee plantations of the village, the operation was carried out under the leadership of Thitimathi Zone Forest Officer Gangadhar under the guidance of MLA Ponnanna, Deputy Conservator of Forests of Virajpet Jagannath and ACF Gopal. During this operation, the group of wild elephants was divided into two groups and six wild elephants, including two marians, were sent to Devmacchi forest through Molagumane coffee plantation.
While the team was conducting the operation amidst the rain, 10 wild elephants, including 4 marians, were found. Despite efforts to drive them into the forest, the wild elephants did not go into the forest and stayed in the coffee plantations of Badaga Banangala. On this occasion, an incident occurred when the wild elephants, who were with the elephants, chased the operation team. However, the unwavering team continued the operation till evening.
