Ohio barber gives free haircuts to homeless people to help them look presentable for job interviews.
On July 18th, 2023, Jayon Hughes, also known as 'Jay Da Barber', decided to take his skills to the streets of Ohio. He posted up across the street from the Cherry Street Mission with a sign and his tools to offer free haircuts to anyone who needed it. He was inspired to do this after he saw "everybody out there, just in distresses." To Jay, it was a chance to help people in need, and give them something that money couldn't buy.

He managed to cut around 10 heads that day, and four of them were getting interviews the next day. It was then that Tanya Maria Murphy of #TanyaWitThaTee noticed Jay doing his work as she was driving. She was so inspired by what he was doing that she decided to capture the moment and post it on Facebook. Her post ended up having over 50,000 views.

Gary, Tanya's son, had been cutting hair for 16 years and commended Jay for his work. To him, it was like looking in a mirror. Jay created a feeling of self-worth in his clients that day, and the smile on their faces was a priceless reward.

Though it didn't bring him any money, Jay's hard work on that day was not in vain. He was happy to help out, and for him it wasn't about the money. He knew that he was making a difference to those in need.
