Among the distinguished recipients of these prestigious awards is Ramesh Chandra Tripathy, the former engineer-in-chief of the state's water resources department, who will be presented with the esteemed 'Water Man of Odisha Award'. Another esteemed personality to be honored is Dr. Pravat Kumar Dash, an eminent cardiologist and the director of the cardiology center at PGIMER Capital Hospital, who will be bestowed with the 'Lifetime Contribution to Health Services Award' for his invaluable contributions in the medical field.
In recognition of his remarkable work in the field of plant sciences, former professor of Botany, Baman Chandra Acharya, will be awarded the 'Environmentalist of the Year Award - 2024'. Additionally, Sukant Patnaik will be felicitated with the 'Green Crusader Award' for his commendable efforts in promoting corporate social responsibility through tree plantation.
To further commemorate the occasion, a panel of experts will engage in a special discussion on the World Environment Day theme - "Land degradation, desertification and drought resilience". This insightful discussion will be headed by the president of OES, Sundara Narayana Patro, and secretary, Jayakrushna Panigrahi, who are both dedicated to raising awareness and promoting sustainable environmental practices.
