Odisha wins most medals at IndiaSkills for 2nd year in a row.
In a proud moment for the state of Odisha, participants from the region have yet again emerged as the top performers at IndiaSkills 2024. This prestigious national championship is considered to be the biggest skill competition in the country. According to an official statement released on Monday, Odisha has secured the first place in the medal tally for the second consecutive year, with a total of 51 medals.

The team from Odisha was given a warm welcome upon their arrival at the Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed his joy and admiration for the participants, applauding their dedication, hard work, and remarkable achievements. He also wished them the best for their future endeavors, hoping that they will continue to inspire others with their skills.

Out of the 64 contestants who represented Odisha in 48 different skills at IndiaSkills 2024, an impressive 51 have won medals in 41 different categories. The state has excelled in a wide range of skills, including mobile robotics, information network cabling, industrial control, mobile application development, and cyber security. This success has been possible due to the tireless efforts and support of the Skill Development & Technical Education department, led by principal secretary Usha Padhee, and the Odisha Skill Development Authority, headed by CEO Rashmita Panda.

Speaking about the state's commitment to promoting skill development, OSDA chairperson Alka Misra mentioned the 'Skilled In Odisha' initiative launched by the government. This program aims to equip the youth of Odisha with essential skills and make them globally competitive. The next major challenge for Odisha's skilled team is to represent the state at the WorldSkills competition to be held in Lyon, France, in September.

The IndiaSkills 2024 competition was organized by the National Skill Development Corporation under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. It witnessed a participation of over 900 contestants from various states and union territories, competing in nine different centers across four cities in India. With a strong and talented team, Odisha has once again proved its mettle at the national level and is now gearing up for the global stage. Congratulations to all the winners and best wishes for their future endeavors!
