Odisha's Chief Minister promises to provide medical assistance at no cost to a sick child from Boudh.
In a recent event, the Chief Minister of Odisha, Mohan Charan Majhi, demonstrated his compassionate nature by directing the health department to provide free medical care to a young boy from Boudh district. The boy, Pratyush Giri, had approached the Chief Minister's grievance cell seeking help for his rare condition that has resulted in the loss of his eyesight. According to Pratyush's father, Hembram Giri, their family was struggling to afford the treatment for the past seven years and many hospitals had turned them away, refusing to accept their health insurance card.

Moved by the family's plight, the Chief Minister assured them of all necessary medical care and immediately arranged for an ambulance to transport Pratyush to the Capital Hospital. From there, he was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. The CM, while addressing the media, expressed his concern for the young boy's condition, stating that he had never seen anyone suffer from such a rare disease before. He also mentioned that he had instructed the Health Minister and Secretary to make all necessary arrangements for Pratyush's treatment and that the state government would cover all his healthcare expenses. If needed, funds would be released from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund.

The Chief Minister also shared his satisfaction with the functioning of the grievance cell, which has been in operation since July 1st this year. He informed that over 8,000 individuals and groups had registered their grievances and more than 30,000 issues had been addressed. He further added that the grievance disposal rate was at 78% in the first six days of operation and one grievance was resolved on the spot on Monday.

In a surprising revelation, the Chief Minister also stated that his predecessor had not visited the grievance cell in the last 16 years. He emphasized that his government takes public grievances seriously and is committed to ensuring that no grievance goes unheard. To expand the reach of the grievance cell, the Chief Minister announced plans to open more camp offices in different parts of the state, with one already functioning in Keonjhar district. The event concluded with the Chief Minister reiterating his dedication to the welfare of the people and his determination to make the grievance cell a success.
