No sympathy for digital game buyers who can't afford them.

Buy physical copies of short games like Spider-Man 2 to save money, instead of digital versions.

No sympathy for digital game buyers who can't afford them.
When it comes to buying Spider-Man 2, it may be a good idea to save some money and buy the physical version of the game. Over the last few weeks, there has been a lot of debate over the price of the game being too much for its relatively short length. It is understandable to have this debate, as publishers tend to provide unwanted bloat to artificially lengthen a game.

However, what frustrates me is that the majority of people are only talking about the cost of buying the game digitally. This is a complete waste of money, as you can already get small discounts for the disc version at launch. These discounts will likely get bigger within a few months, such as during Black Friday. Why have people become so fixated on buying games digitally when they are missing out on so much?

The only advantage of digital copies is that you don't have to get up off your sofa to change to another game. Other than that, there are no other benefits whatsoever. People are willing to pay higher prices and not even own the game just for this one labour saving advantage. It doesn't make sense to me.

I personally only have a mild interest in Spider-Man 2, so the thought of paying full price for it is not something I would consider. I would rather wait a few months and see how the price goes, as by the end of the year it will likely be a third off, for the physical version that is. There will never be a discount for the digital version before 2024, and even then it won't be much.

The best part about buying the physical version is that you can just sell it when you're done. This is the only thing that tempts me into buying the game now, as if I beat it in a couple of days I can get almost full price for it. People who buy the game digitally at launch, however, will be stuck with it and the hole in their wallet forever.

I understand that changing discs can be inconvenient, but if you own more than six games it is actually less convenient and more time-consuming than physical. Plus, the discs don't take up too much space, so that shouldn't be an issue. Publishers make more profit from digital sales, but I don't understand why the majority of gamers have decided to make things so easy for them. I will only ever buy digitally if I really have to, and I plan to use the money I save to buy more games.
