NJ Black Women's Collective to celebrate first class of Leadership Institute graduates.
The momentous occasion of the first graduating cohort of the Leadership Institute, a joint effort by the New Jersey Black Women's Collective and Mercer County Community College, is set to take place on June 8th. This innovative program, which was launched in March, was carefully crafted to equip emerging leaders with the necessary skills and strategies to tackle real-world challenges and excel in various industries. Over the course of 14 sessions, led by Melody M. Fogarty, Managing Partner and Chief Business Strategist of Dakota Gray, LLC, participants delved into a comprehensive curriculum that included a leadership assessment, presentations, networking lunches, workshops, lectures, and panel discussions covering topics such as leadership, organizational culture, and personal development. Additionally, the program incorporated sessions on wellness, offering participants the opportunity to explore practices such as sound baths, Tai Chi, and other holistic approaches.

What made this program truly unique was its roster of Black women executives, senior leaders, and guest speakers, who were experts in fields ranging from entertainment and business to finance, education, law, politics, science, and technology. According to Tennille McCoy, co-founder of NJBWC, the energy and enthusiasm in each session surpassed all expectations. "Our ultimate goal was not only for these women to achieve success and meet expectations," she stated, as reported by ROI-NJ, "but also to leave the program with authentic relationships and practical strategies to navigate real-world challenges. We wanted to ignite a fire within them that would continue to burn long after the program's conclusion."

The inaugural cohort of the Leadership Institute includes Brianna Armstead, Latonya Ashford Ligon, Charise Breeden-Balaam, Risikat Busari, Latoya Cargeor, Rachel Dortch, Gabriel Douglas, Shamara Gatling-Davila, Jacqueline Heads, Sherida Hinckson, Candice Jackson Long, Danielle M. Jones, Darcell Q. Medley-Stokes, Donna Maywar, Shatiera Porte'e, and Stefanie Williams Carthan. The graduation day festivities will kick off with a capstone presentation at 9:30 a.m., followed by a brunch and ceremony at 11 a.m. at the Trenton Country Club in West Trenton. This event is open to the public, and all are welcome to join in the celebration.

The cost of the Leadership Institute is $1,000, and there are also sponsorship opportunities available. The organizers are proud of the success of the program and are excited to see what the future holds for these talented and driven individuals. They hope that this will be just the beginning of a long-lasting impact on the lives and careers of these emerging leaders.
