Nine people, including the son and brother of a terror accused, were killed in an explosion at an illegal firecracker unit in Bengal.
The explosion at an illegal firecracker warehouse in Duttapukur, West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district, has resulted in nine fatalities. It has now come to light that two of the deceased are related to a terror accused currently serving judicial custody in one of the correctional homes in the state.

Ronie Sheikh and Jirat Sheikh, the two victims, are the son and the younger brother of Isha Khan, who is an accused in the Nimtita Railway Station blast in Murshidabad district that occurred in February 2021.

The police are conducting an initial investigation into the Duttapukur blast and it has been revealed that Jirat Sheikh was the one supplying the material for the firecracker manufacturing. Meanwhile, Keramat Sheikh, the principal partner of the illegal firecracker warehouse, is currently missing.

Four of the nine dead are from Suti, Isha Khan's native town, and the court has approved his parole to perform the last rituals of his son and brother. This is accompanied by two PILs that have been filed in Calcutta High Court that demand for an NIA probe into the firecracker utility blast.

West Bengal’s Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has slammed the police for the explosion and BJP MLA Arjun Singh has demanded an NIA probe into the incident. The PILs are scheduled to be heard on Tuesday.
