Warner Bros. has recently announced a thrilling new addition to the beloved Batman: Arkham series - and it's an exciting VR-only game! However, there seems to be a bit of confusion surrounding its connection to Suicide Squad.

As fans, we can't help but feel a sense of disappointment over this year's Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League. Not only does it fall short of our expectations, but it also makes us wonder about the future of Rocksteady Studios, the brilliant minds behind the original Batman: Arkham games.

It's worth noting that Suicide Squad is technically part of the same universe as the Arkham series. However, it doesn't seem to acknowledge its ties to 2015's Arkham Knight, leaving us scratching our heads. But fear not, my fellow gamers, because the franchise is not dead yet - a new VR game is on its way!

Unfortunately, there isn't much information available about Batman: Arkham Shadow as of now. We'll have to wait until June 7, when it will be officially revealed at Summer Game Fest. What we do know is that it will be an exclusive for Meta Quest 3 and will feature the supervillain Ratcatcher.

Now, Ratcatcher may not be the most prominent figure in Batman's rogue gallery, but he's definitely a force to be reckoned with. For those unfamiliar with the character, his daughter, known as Ratcatcher 2, made an appearance in James Gunn's The Suicide Squad movie.

But let's not get too ahead of ourselves here. The only thing we can gather from the pre-rendered trailer is that the game will take place in a dark and eerie version of Gotham City at night. Oh, and there's also no clear indication of which version of Batman we'll be playing as. With so many iterations of the Caped Crusader in the comics, it's anyone's guess.

One thing that's certain, though, is that the game is not being developed by Rocksteady. In fact, there's no evidence that they've had any involvement with it at all. The studio behind Arkham Shadow is Camouflaj, the American team responsible for the well-received Iron Man VR game, and now owned by Meta.

It's worth noting that, although timed Meta Quest exclusives eventually make their way to other platforms, it's unlikely to be the case with Arkham Shadow. After all, it's being developed by Meta themselves.

Now, some of you may recall that there was already a Batman VR game released back in 2010 by Rocksteady, titled Batman: Arkham VR. While it was mainly a tech demo, it did have some story elements that linked it to Arkham Knight.

In other news, Warner Bros. has threatened to turn both Mortal Kombat and Batman into live service games. Fans are also eager to hear that Kevin Conroy will be reprising his role as Batman in the upcoming Suicide Squad game, set to release in May. On the other hand, it was a sad day for Rocksteady as the studio heads announced their departure just before the launch of Suicide Squad.
