The Jews, the world’s chosen people to persecute for millennial, are again the victim of an unprovoked, deadly, horrific attack — beheading babies, burning babies alive, rape, maiming, parading corpses of dead naked women in the streets, killing grandparents, taking hostages — and the world’s reaction is to call for a cease fire and to accuse the Jewish state, Israel, of genocide when they go after their attackers.
Not to be a cynic, but good luck with that.
The world in its history of Jewish pogroms — periodic organized massacres of Jews popular in Europe and Northern Africa for centuries — likes its Jews pliable, docile, and unarmed. Hitler killed 6,000,000 Jews in World War II and they marched willingly to their deaths in his gas ovens.
That is over, folks.
Unfortunately for Jew haters, since 1948, the Jewish state of Israel has been allowed to purchase armaments, form its own national defense, raise an army/air force/navy, and fight for its survival which it has done in major and minor wars since then.
History shows them to be good fighters and most folks don’t know how many times they have been attacked. Here is an edited list of the bigger ones.
In 1948 when Israel declared itself a nation in accordance with the partition plan of the British Mandate over Palestine, six Arab countries — Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and a contingent of Saudi Arabian troops that fought under Egyptian leadership — attacked Israel and attempted to kill it in its cradle.
The Israelis miraculously prevailed and took land from some of the participants.
In 1956, Egypt led by its President, Gamal Abdel Nasser, nationalized the company that ran the Suez Canal — owned by mostly French and English shareholders — having already blocked the Straits of Tiran to Israeli shipping.
Israel attacked Egypt seizing Gaza and the Sinai with its main objective the removal of all restraints on their shipping, specifically the area in proximity to the Suez Canal, joined shortly by both the French and the English who landed paratroopers next to the canal.
Of course, the French and English attacked for the benefit of the shareholders of the Suez Canal Company. Haha. Isn’t capitalism great?
The US and the USSR used their influence to force the French and English to withdraw. Many say this was the highwater mark for British influence in the Middle East — the Brits had more than 80,000 troops in Suez at the end of World War II (the largest concentration of troops in any one location at that time) and considered Egypt to be within its sphere of influence — and the beginning of American and Russian influence.
As the Suez Crisis wound down, the Egyptians sunk 40 ships in the canal making its use impossible for six months.
After this war, the Egyptians turned to Russia for arms rather than England.
On the heels of the Suez Crisis, Nasser again closed the Straits of Tiran to Israeli shipping and moved his army onto its border with Israel who, having warned the Egyptians that any interference with its shipping would be considered a casus belli, attacked Egypt pre-emptively striking its air bases and catching the Egyptians off guard.
This strike completely crippled the Egyptian air force and the Israelis achieved air superiority and Jordan and Syria both joined the fighting.
At the end of the war, Israel destroyed the Egyptian army in the Sinai and the Jordanian army in the West Bank, and ended up with the Sinai Peninsula, Gaza, the West Bank, and the Golan Heights.
The Israeli military fought brilliantly and earned accolades for the quality of its intelligence, the cunning of its planning, the competence of its senior leadership, and the fierceness of its soldiers.
This war, unfortunately, set the table for the next one six years later.
The Egyptians struck the Israelis on Yom Kippur by crossing the Suez Canal to attempt to seize back the Sinai Peninsula. The Syrians attacked the Golan Heights.
By now, the US was in active support of Israel while Egypt and Syria were USSR client states. In this regard, this was a confrontation between client states of two nuclear armed super powers.
The Egyptians utilized superior anti-air support (Russian SAMs) and shoulder fired anti-tank weapons to initially bloody the Israelis who absorbed the hit from Egypt in the Sinai and Syria in the Golan Heights and ultimately crossed the Suez Canal and attacked into Egypt.
A Russian brokered ceasefire ended the conflict after 19 days with the Israelis still in possession of all the land they captured in 1967.
[Historical note: After the Yom Kippur War and Egypt’s loss, Henry Kissinger pried the Egyptian portfolio out of the fingers of the Russians and decades of peace came to pass between the Egyptians and Israel. Things went swimmingly until the Obama admin allowed the Muslim Brotherhood to take control of the joint. What a blunder.]
With the capture of Gaza and the West Bank, Israel found itself dealing with the Palestinians rather than an alliance amongst Arab nations. This is an important transition to recognize.
The first intifada is generally linked to the 20th anniversary of Israeli seizure of Gaza and the West Bank (the 1967 Third Arab Israeli War, the Six Day War).
What started as work stoppages, civil disobedience, unauthorized barricades quickly accelerated into violence that resulted in more than 1,200 Palestinian deaths and 100 Israeli civilians and 40 Israeli Defense Forces personnel died also.
The first intifada ended with the Oslo Accords.
In the first intifada, Israel and the world confronted a loose, but complex affiliation of terror organizations including Fatah, the Popular Front, the Democratic front, the Palestine Communist Party, Hamas, and Islamic Jihad.
These terror organizations assassinated more than 800 Palestinians as collaborators with the Israelis.
The US recognized the Palestine Liberation Organization (Yassar Arafat) as the “voice” of the Palestinian people.
When the 2000 Camp David Summit negotiations amongst the United States, Israel, and the Palestine Liberation Organization failed to achieve an accord, Yassar Arafat returned to Gaza and started the Second Palestinian Intifada wherein the suicide bomber became the signature attack on Israeli society.
If the first intifada is characterized as “peaceful” — a completely nonsensical idea — then the second intifada is characterized as “violent.”
[Note: The Oslo Accords created the Palestine Authority to “run” Gaza. The Palestine Liberation Organization controlled by Arafat had a constituent element, Fatah. Arafat founded Fatah in 1959 while a student in Cairo, a militant organization that initially controlled the Palestine Authority politically via the ballot box.]
The second intifada would cost the Palestinians 5,000 lives and the Israelis 1,000 KIA. The Palestinians executed more than 500 countrymen alleged to have been Israeli sympathizers or spies.
Hamas is both a political and a military organization. They are terrorists.
Fatah comes from a similar pedigree.
Yassar Arafat, founder of Fatah, chairman of the PLO, and potentate of the Palestinian Authority (from whom he stole hundreds of millions of dollars), died on 11 November 2004 ending the second intifada and starting a shit storm in Gaza.
Israel pulled out of Gaza — bequeathing it to local control — and some other captured territories in late 2005 setting off a feeding frenzy.
In 2006, Hamas won sufficient seats in the legislature to take control of the Palestinian Authority; and, in 2007, Hamas defeated Fatah militarily.
Hamas, like every terrorist organization, makes war against babies, children, women and grandparents. They are murderers, rapists, kidnappers, beheaders, immolators who attempt to disguise their evil under some bastardized interpretation of the Quran and the notion that they are oppressed by Israel.
Hamas, who leaders reside in luxury in Qatar, is funded directly by Iran, the United Nations, the United States (Trump cancelled American funding and Biden brought it back), neighboring Arab countries, income taxes, customs duties, illegal import fees, and bribes.
No neighboring Arab country will accept refugees from Gaza, the West Bank, or the Palestinian Authority. The Arabs hate the Palestinians.
OK, sorry. I am getting a little long winded. Not sorry. You need to know this stuff.
There is only one real solution — the elimination of Hamas, its rank-and-file, its leadership, and its sources of funding.
Side note: I am amazed that the American President when confronted with the murder and kidnapping of American citizens hasn’t taken a slightly more pugnacious approach to the problem. Seems tin earish to me.
