The Isle of Harris Distillery is proud to announce the release of their latest addition to The Hearach single malt range – The Hearach Oloroso Cask. This highly anticipated release comes a year after the first expression of Isle of Harris whisky, which sold out in record time, with over 25,000 eager customers waiting in line to get their hands on a bottle.
The new Oloroso expression has been exclusively aged in first fill Oloroso sherry butts, resulting in a bold and deeply aromatic spirit that builds upon the complexity and drinkability that fans of The Hearach have come to love. With notes of orange peel, warming spices, fireside smoke and toasted hazelnuts, this rich dram is the perfect companion for a cozy winter evening.
Available for purchase from 24 September at 10am, The Hearach Oloroso Cask Matured can be found online, at the distillery, and through select whisky retailers in the UK at a suggested retail price of £75. Bottled at 46% ABV and lightly peated at 12-15ppm, this non-chill filtered spirit has been carefully matured in casks hand-picked for quality from the renowned Bodega José y Miguel Martín in the beautiful Andalusia region in southern Spain.
Crafted by the same team of dedicated locals who brought us the first single malt, The Hearach Oloroso Cask Matured is a true reflection of the distillery's ethos of "people and place woven together". It not only celebrates the unique flavors and traditions of the Isle of Harris, but also pays homage to the Spanish sherry winemakers and coopers who have played a crucial role in creating this exceptional whisky.
According to Simon Erlanger, Managing Director at Isle of Harris Distillery, the release of The Hearach Oloroso Cask Matured is a milestone for the distillery, coming just one year after the success of their inaugural launch. He also mentioned the strong connection that has been forged between the distillery and the family sherry makers at José y Miguel Martín, and the similarities between their cultures and communities.
Since its opening in 2015, the Isle of Harris Distillery has been dedicated to creating sustainable employment opportunities for their island community. With one of the youngest distilling teams in Scotland, consisting of four local individuals with an average age of just 25 years, this distillery is a true testament to the passion and dedication of its people. Under the guidance of Head Distiller Norman Ian Mackay, they continue to produce exceptional whisky that truly captures the essence of the Isle of Harris.
