Netflix reveals new shows based on Tomb Raider, Devil May Cry, and Blood Dragon.
Netflix has been showing its love for video game adaptations with the upcoming animated versions of Lara Croft, Dante, and Captain Laserhawk. What's interesting is that many of these shows are from franchises that haven't had new games in years. And now, Tomb Raider can be added to that list.

There's been a lot of marketing activity around Lara Croft lately, including a cameo in Call Of Duty and remasters of her first three games. But what exactly is going on with the next Tomb Raider game still remains a mystery.

The animation for the Netflix show looks a bit generic, but it continues the story from the end of 2018's Shadow Of The Tomb Raider. Hayley Atwell stars as Lara Croft, with Earl Baylon reprising his role as Jonah Maiava from the reboot trilogy and Allen Maldonado featuring as Zip.

Unfortunately, there's still no release date, but the original plan was to have it out this year. The Devil May Cry anime is also down as 'coming soon', and it's from the same producer who oversaw Castlevania, which is encouraging.

The trailer shows very little, and we don't know if it has a direct connection to Devil May Cry 5 or is meant as any kind of prelude to a sixth game.

The final reveal in Netflix's DROP 01 showcase was Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, which is based on the Far Cry 3 spin-off Blood Dragon from 2013. However, in reality it doesn't seem to have anything to do with it. It looks like it's just an excuse to cameo various Ubisoft characters in anime form, including Rayman, Watch Dogs' DeadSec, Jade and Pey'J from Beyond Good & Evil, and a frog version of Assassin's Creed's Altaïr.

At least it has a release date: six episodes that will debut on Netflix from October 19.

If you're a fan of video game adaptations, make sure to keep an eye out for Netflix's upcoming lineup. Who knows, you might even find something you'll enjoy!
