Mumbai's Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) achieved a major success on Sunday in arresting a fugitive who was evading justice for eleven years. The NCB sources identified the fugitive as Veer Bahadur Singh, who had been hiding in Uttar Pradesh. Interestingly, he had managed to open a garment factory in Mumbai without anyone noticing.
The NCB sources revealed that on June 8, 2009, the team had busted a major drug-trafficking racket that was operating through the dark net. In the process, 25 kg of methamphetamine was seized from the vehicle carrying three accused and the consignment. Upon their arrest, the cops were directed to three Mumbai-based receivers. Singh was one of the carriers of the consignment.
The NCB team also managed to apprehend a Nigerian trafficker and seized a consignment of MDMA worth ₹1 crore. This latest success of the NCB Mumbai has highlighted the importance of keeping a vigil on the dark net-based drug trafficking activities.
