A 33-year-old railway employee has been arrested by the Navghar police after a 23-year-old woman accused him of molesting her. According to the police, the victim was an apprentice at the Matunga railway workshop. She met the man, Sagar Surendra Jaiswal, in 2021 and they developed a mutual friendship.
However, she soon found out that Jaiswal was already married. Upon learning this, the victim immediately broke all ties with him. Despite this, he persisted in his advances and pestered her with phone calls and text messages. He even threatened to defame her at their workplace if she refused to continue the relationship.
On September 24, Jaiswal forced his way into the victim's home and tried to convince her to "love him back". When the woman stood firm in her decision, he sexually molested her and threatened her. He even said he would bring a chopper and a rifle from his hometown and kill her.
The accused, originally from Bhusawal, was arrested by the police on Monday evening. He was presented in court and remanded to police custody for one day and then to judicial custody. Charges of section 452, 354D, 509, 5062, 323 of the Indian Penal Code have been lodged against Jaiswal.
This incident is a stark reminder of the increasing prevalence of stalking in India. It is essential for women to be aware of their rights and take appropriate legal action in such cases. We must work together to create a safe and secure environment for women.
