NFL star Myles Garrett is taking his career to the next level and beyond the field. He recently joined Mark Wahlberg's sports company MUNICIPAL, as a brand ambassador and equity partner, Boardroom reports. Garrett will be providing opportunities through the Cleveland community.
Garrett shared in an interview how he came to his decision to partner with MUNICIPAL. "I had started to build a relationship with Mark Wahlberg, and he invited me over to his home. We discussed things we had in common, a work ethic and a drive to make the most of the opportunities we had, and how we can inspire others to do the same."
The NFL star was quick to appreciate Wahlberg's ideas. "Mark has been a great sounding board for ideas. One of the more important things that has stood out was to be authentic to yourself and how important it is to have a great team around you."
Wahlberg was equally as complimentary of Garrett. “You don’t need to spend more than a few seconds talking to Myles to know he’s built differently. In the gym, on the field, out in the community, he’s all out and won’t stop until he achieves what he’s setting out to achieve. He’s 100% a MUNICIPAL man.”
Garrett is also expanding his footprint in Cleveland. In October 2023, Forbes reported the Cleveland Cavaliers announced Garrett joined an ownership group headed by Cavaliers Chairman and Governor Dan Gilbert and purchased a minority stake. Gilbert expressed his excitement in a statement: "We are honored to welcome this long-time friend of the team as our new partner and investor. Myles’ passion and commitment to the city he loves will allow us to reach new communities and continue to build the successful future of this franchise."
Myles Garrett is certainly taking his career to the next level, and it's clear the city of Cleveland is very proud to have him.
