Mum of footballer who died tragically passes away after long fight with cancer.
The family are tragically grieving again after the death of Melanie Tait, mother of Jordan Sinnott who was killed in January 2020. Melanie, aged 54, had been fighting cancer for a long time and sadly succumbed to the illness, leaving a huge hole in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Melanie had devoted the last years of her life to setting up a charity in honour of her son, the Jordan Sinnott Foundation Trust. She had also done a sponsored skydive in his memory earlier this year. In a Facebook post, the Trust said, "It's with the heaviest of hearts we would like to share the devastating news that yesterday after a long fight with cancer, our beautiful Melanie has gained her wings. We are utterly heartbroken. Give Jord a big cuddle from us Mel, we love you both unconditionally."

Jordan Sinnott, aged 25, had been attacked by three men while on a night out in Retford, Nottinghamshire. He had proposed to his partner Kelly Bossons at Christmas just a few weeks before and the couple had gone out with their friends to celebrate the occasion. At midnight, Kelly had gone home, and Jordan had stayed out with his friends to go to nearby pubs.

Kai Denovan, then aged 23, and Cameron Matthews, then aged 21 were convicted of manslaughter and jailed for 11 years and 8 years and 3 months respectively after Jordan's killing. Denovan had attempted to start a fight with Jordan, leading to a physical altercation which eventually caused Jordan to fall and hit his head. Jordan was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead at 6pm.

Just a week after Jordan's funeral, Kelly found out she was 12 weeks pregnant with their daughter Maisie. Jordan's parents had said at the time, "We've lost a son, a brother, a fiancé, a grandson, uncle, nephew, cousin, a true friend to so many. But more heartbreaking than anything, a father to his unborn child. And what a great daddy he would have been."

Jordan's life was cruelly taken away from him and his family, and now they are grieving once again with the passing of Melanie. Her memory and her legacy of the Jordan Sinnott Foundation Trust will stay with the family and the community for years to come.
