MLC Suraj Revanna, who allegedly sexually assaulted a man, has been placed in judicial custody for 14 days.
In Bengaluru, JD MLC Suraj Revanna faced a difficult day on Sunday as he was produced before a judge at a magistrate court. The arrest was made due to allegations of sexual abuse against a male party worker. The judge ruled that Suraj would be held in judicial custody for 14 days.

The Criminal Investigation Department took over the case earlier in the day, leading to Suraj being transferred from Hassan to Bengaluru. He was then brought before the 42nd Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate at his residence. The charges against Suraj include "unnatural offences" and have been filed under various sections of the IPC.

Sources revealed that Suraj was questioned overnight at a police station in Hassan before his arrest on Sunday morning. He was then taken to the Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences for a medical examination. The investigation stemmed from a complaint filed by a 27-year-old man who alleged that Suraj, the eldest son of Holenarasipura MLA HD Revanna, had sexually abused him at his farmhouse in Ghannikada on June 16.

Following the complaint, the Holenarasipura police registered a case against Suraj under IPC sections 377, 342, and 506 on Saturday evening. However, Suraj, who is the grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda and the nephew of Union Minister H D Kumaraswamy, has vehemently denied the allegations.

Suraj also claimed that the man had filed a false complaint in an attempt to extort Rs 5 crore from him. In a twist to the case, Suraj's close aide Shivakumar filed a complaint of extortion against the party worker on Friday. According to Shivakumar, the man had threatened to falsely accuse Suraj of sexual abuse if he did not pay him Rs 5 crore. The amount was later reduced to Rs 2 crore.

The case has caused a stir in the political circle, with both sides presenting contradictory accounts of the incident. While the investigation continues, Suraj maintains his innocence and denies any wrongdoing. The court will further deliberate on the matter as Suraj remains in judicial custody.
