MBVV cop wins bronze medal at world shooting event in Mira Bhayandar.
The Mira Bhayandar-Vasai Virar police force is celebrating a momentous achievement, as one of its sub-inspectors earned a bronze medal at the International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) World Championship in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Police Sub-Inspector Rajendra Bagul, attached to the Bhayandar police station, secured the medal along with Akshay Jain and Gaurav Choudhary in the men’s 25-meter center pistol team event. The trio clinched the bronze with 1,718 points, behind the German and Korean teams who earned gold and silver with 1,741 and 1,731 points respectively.

This marks a significant milestone in Bagul’s career, having joined the police force in 2020 and secured multiple medals at the state and national levels in shooting competitions. He is the first policeman from the Maharashtra police force to win a medal in an international shooting championship. Bagul expressed his gratitude to his trainers, colleagues, and superiors for their unwavering encouragement and support.

The championship, which began on August 14 and will conclude on September 1, featured 1,249 participants from 101 countries worldwide. India’s shooting contingent ended its campaign with a total of 14 medals - 6 golds and 8 bronzes.

The Mira Bhayandar force also filed a First Information Report (FIR) against one of its own police officers, dubbed ‘Munna Bhai MBBS’. The accused had allegedly assaulted a woman and her minor daughter in the Bhayandar area.
