Mark Sheppard, 59, had six 'massive' heart attacks, star of Supernatural.
Actor Mark Sheppard has revealed he recently suffered from a near-death experience. The Supernatural star had to be resuscitated four times after collapsing in his kitchen due to six 'massive' heart attacks.

The 59-year-old actor, who is best known for playing the demon/King of Hell Crowley on Supernatural, took to Instagram to share an update on his condition, showing a selfie from his hospital bed. In the photo, he wears several heart monitoring devices on his chest, and still manages to crack a slight smile.

"You're not going to believe this!" he began in the caption. "Was on my way to an appointment yesterday when I collapsed in my kitchen. Six massive heart attacks later, and being brought back from dead 4 times I apparently had a 100% blockage in my LAD."

The left anterior descending artery is the largest coronary artery and carries almost 50% of the blood to the heart. Mark also suffered what is known as a 'widowmaker', which is a colloquial term for the deadliest kind of heart attack caused by a full blockage in the heart's biggest artery.

He went on to thank his wife Sarah Louise Fudge for saving his life, as well as the medical staff at Providence California St. Joseph's for taking care of him.

"My chances of survival were virtually nil," he confessed. On how the near-death experience has affected him, he concluded, "I feel great. Humbled once more. Home tomorrow!"

Mark's fans and famous pals were keen to wish him a speedy recovery, with Misha Collins commenting, "Mark! You don't need to do the most and biggest every time! 2 or 3 would have been impressive enough. You've impressed us, okay. Now stop with this and get back on the road with us. Love you, pal."

The Los Angeles Fire Department wrote, "We're so glad to hear of your outcome and wish you a full and speedy recovery!" while Felicia Day said, "Omg mark I am so glad you're recovering this is awful! Sending all my love to you and the family."

Mark is due to return home from hospital this weekend. As well as his starring role in Supernatural, Mark is known for appearing in shows such as Leverage, White Collar, and Doom Patrol. Most recently, he appeared in Walker: Independence.
