Narmadapuram has been abuzz with activity as a team of the transport department led by Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Nisha Chouhan have been challenging vehicles on Pipariya Marg, Itarsi Marg and Harda Marg for not carrying proper documents. The team has also imposed a fine of Rs 42,000 on the vehicles that were found to be non-compliant with the regulations.
The checking was conducted in accordance with the Model Code of Conduct. A tourist bus that was found illegally plying on the Pipariya Marg was also challenged by the RTO team. Apart from that, several other vehicles were asked to remove black film, hooters and improper number plates.
Speaking about the development, RTO Nisha Chouhan said that several teams of her department were working round the clock to ensure that the regulations are followed and that the checking will continue until the regulations are met. She also mentioned that those who violate the Motor Vehicles Act will face the consequences. Officers such as Vijay Shrivastava, Lakhan Gaud and other members of the department were present during the checking.
In addition to the checking, the RTO team is also raising voter awareness by putting stickers on vehicles in every block of Narmadapuram and talking to passengers. Nisha Chouhan has been appealing to citizens to cast their votes on November 17 without fail. The RTO office has also established a selfie point where the youths can take their photographs and get information about the importance of voting.
This awareness campaign was launched following instructions issued by the Collector and Electoral Officer Neeraj Kumar Singh. Meanwhile, the National Green Tribunal has issued a notice to the Public Works Department, BMC, MPPCB and the Collector of Bhopal over the pollution in Kolar.
