Scott McTominay is looking to secure regular first-team football next season and West Ham United are keen to sign the Manchester United midfielder. The Hammers are searching for a replacement for Declan Rice, who was recently sold to Arsenal for £105million.
David Moyes is an admirer of McTominay, however, United are holding out for a fee of around £45million before considering a sale. The Daily Telegraph report that it will take an offer of between £40m to £45m to tempt United into doing business. United manager, Erik ten Hag, is happy to keep McTominay as a valuable squad player, only willing to sanction his exit if the price is right.
The 26-year-old is open to staying at Old Trafford, but he wants to be playing regular first-team football and would not be satisfied with a role on the bench. McTominay may wait to see how United’s squad looks nearer to the end of the transfer window before making a decision, however, he could be tempted by an offer elsewhere.
McTominay started United’s first seven league games last season but following Casemiro’s introduction into the team from Real Madrid, he was handed just four further starts. Mason Mount has since joined United’s midfield and Kobbie Mainoo is likely to remain part of the first-team squad after impressing ten Hag.
United are also thought to be keen on signing Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat if they can raise funds through player sales, and West Ham are also interested in signing United defender Harry Maguire. Maguire was recently stripped of the club captaincy, and the Hammers are exploring either a loan or permanent deal. However, his wages could be problematic should the clubs agree a deal.
