Man Utd & Cameroon agree on when Andre Onana will go to AFCON.
Manchester United and Cameroon have come to an agreement which allows goalkeeper Andre Onana to play in two upcoming fixtures. Onana, United's number one, was named in Cameroon's 27-man squad for the Africa Cup of Nations which starts on the 13th of January.

Due to the agreement, Onana will not depart Old Trafford until the 14th of January, meaning he is now able to play in the FA Cup third-round clash against Wigan on the 8th of January and the Premier League match with Tottenham on the 14th. It is thought that Onana wanted to delay his own international call-up to participate in the iconic English competition.

Cameroon's stars will meet up at a warm-up camp in Saudi Arabia, where they will play a friendly against Zambia on the 9th of January before jetting off to the Ivory Coast for their opening game against Guinea six days later. Onana had retired from international duty last year following a fallout with manager Rigobert Song at the Qatar World Cup, but returned in September.

United boss Erik ten Hag previously said he was relaxed over the possibility of losing Onana to AFCON, saying: ‘When he goes there, we have a strong group of keepers with Altay Bayindir and Tom Heaton so we are comfortable. Of course, we hope Andre is available as much as possible, but if not we have two good keepers who can replace him.’

Onana arrived at United this summer in a £47m deal from Inter Milan and he has endured a shaky start, making a series of mistakes for the Red Devils. With the agreement now in place, Onana will be able to feature in two important games for the Red Devils before heading off to the Africa Cup of Nations.
