Man jailed for stealing bus, crashing it on 10-mile joyride.
Josh Redfern, 25, was recently jailed for 12 months after a joyride in a bus that he stole from the streets of Nottingham. On August 4, he climbed into the cab of the bus and took off on a wild 10-mile ride.

Redfern recklessly drove the bus through a red light and crashed it into a parked car, causing significant damage to both the bus and the car, which had to be written off. This was especially concerning because of the fact that he was already serving a suspended sentence for drug offences at the time.

The Nottinghamshire Police were able to identify Redfern after CCTV footage was shared on Facebook, leading to his arrest. He pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicle taking, failing to stop after an accident, driving while disqualified and driving without insurance.

PC Matt Fisher said: "Redfern's actions that evening were mindless, reckless and dangerous. He climbed inside a bus and set off into busy city traffic with no thought of the harm he could potentially cause to other road users. Thankfully no one was seriously injured, but that is no thanks to Redfern. He wrote off one car after colliding with it and could have harmed anyone else who he came into contact with. I am pleased a judge has seen fit to put him behind bars."

Redfern was sentenced at Nottingham crown court, and the judge noted that the sentence reflected the fact that he had committed the offences while on a suspended prison sentence for drug-related offences.
