After over 11 months of evading arrest, the Mira Road police finally apprehended a 24-year-old youth for his involvement in the brutal murder of a delivery boy. The gruesome crime was the result of a minor dispute between the victim's uncle, Harsh Raj and some people over fuel at a petrol pump in Kashimira.
Ankush Raj, the victim, was a resident of Queens Park in Mira Road and was employed as a delivery boy with an e-commerce platform. Investigations revealed that Harsh Raj was involved in an altercation with a man identified as Ayush over breaking the queue at the petrol pump. The deceased, Ankush, had intervened to defuse the situation.
Out of rage, Ayush reportedly called his friends and started searching for Harsh Raj, however, they spotted Ankush near Jangid Circle and assaulted him with choppers and swords, eventually leading to his death.
The crime detection team, who had been following the case, received a tip-off that one of the absconding accused identified as Rohit Paswan would arrive to meet his relative near Chene bridge in Kashimira. A trap was laid by the police team and Paswan was arrested on Saturday.
The deceased was from Bharatpur in Rajasthan and had only recently landed the job of a delivery boy, just over a month before his murder. An offence was registered against all the accused, who are either students or delivery men, under the relevant sections of the IPC and Arms Act at the Mira Road police station.
