Maharashtra govt: Officers linked to drug businesses will be dismissed, Fadnavis says.
Mumbai: On Saturday, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis who is also the Home Minister of the state, stated that strict legal action will be taken against those found to be involved in drugs business. This includes members of the police force, who will be dismissed from the service if found to be involved.

Fadnavis was responding to questions raised by the opposition regarding the presence of the famous YouTuber, Elvis Yadav, who was arrested in a drugs case at the CM Eknath Shinde's official bungalow, Varsha. He stated that the opposition is only making such allegations out of frustration.

During an interaction with the media, Fadnavis explained how Elvis Yadav had come to Varsha during the Ganapati festival. He said, "Celebrities from various walks of life gather at the CM's official residence Varsha during Ganesh festival. Yadav had won a reality show and had come to the Ganesha just like many other celebrities. When he came there he was not accused of anything. He was a celebrity back then. Now, he is an accused."

The DCM also announced the initiation of a new mission called 'Drugs Free Maharashtra'. He said, "Raids are being carried out throughout the state in each and every district. The criminals will be strictly dealt with, but the police won't be spared at all. If found involved in any such business, the police will be immediately dismissed."

Responding to the allegations levelled by the Shiv Sena spokesperson Sanjay Raut and Congress spokesperson Atul Londhe, Fadnavis asserted that all legal provisions against drugs business will be explored and strictest possible legal provisions will be applied against those involved in such business. He added that allegations without proof are useless.

Finally, the DCM added that BJP MP Gopal Shetti had declared that he would be happy if the party asked Fadnavis to contest from Mumbai North.
