Shinty great Hugh Dan MacLennan will be saying goodbye to commentary when this year's Camanachd Cup final is held at Bught Park in Inverness. To honor his retirement from sports broadcasting, which has spanned since 1990, MacLennan is being joined by music artist Gary Innes for “Hugh Dan’s Highland Fling” at the Eden Court theatre the night before the match. This year's event is additionally special as it marks 40 years since MacLennan's initial Camanachd Cup, along with the 100th anniversary of the match's debut at Bught Park which will be undergoing redevelopment after this year's tournament.

“All great things must come to an end and this September is a great chance to bring together all of the people who have supported me over the years to have some fun,” MacLennan expressed. Innes added, “We have a great chance to celebrate the past 40 years and to hear from some of the legendary figures MacLennan has worked with. BBC Radio Scotland’s Iain Anderson, ceilidh king Fergie MacDonald, and piper Duncan MacGillivray of Calrossie will be in attendance, and a line-up of award-winning musicians who have collaborated with us on projects will also be performing.”

Readers of Scottish Field's culture section can keep up with the latest news and reviews, and the April issue of the magazine will feature an article from author Alexander McCall Smith. The post Hugh Dan MacLennan's ultimate celebration will be seen first on Scottish Field.
