Indore residents welcomed the cooler weather on Thursday evening after a hot and humid afternoon. With cool winds blowing and intermittent showers, the day temperature decreased to 30 degrees Celsius, two degrees lower than the previous afternoon.
According to Regional Meteorological Department officials, the weather conditions are likely to remain the same for the next few days, with chances of light rains and thunderstorms. Winds were blowing with a maximum speed of 18 kilometres per hour in the evening, and light rainfall was observed in various parts of the district.
The change in weather was due to the west northwesterly winds that started blowing in the afternoon. This caused a shift in the monsoon trough at mean sea level, passing through Jaisalmer, Kota, Tikamgarh, Sidhi and the centre of low pressure area over southeast Jharkhand, Digha and thence south eastwards to east central Bay of Bengal. As a result, isolated light to moderate rainfall is very likely in West Madhya Pradesh in the coming days.
Thursday's maximum temperature was recorded at 30.9 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature was 23.2 degrees Celsius, which was two degrees Celsius above normal. This cooler weather is sure to bring much needed relief to the citizens of Indore.
